Good Morning All -
I have a brand new Brinsea II Maxi EX. I set eggs on May 4, 2018 and the humidity has been automatically controlled by the incubator at a steady 50%. Yesterday I noticed the humidy went up to 53% . Last evening it was up to 54%. So I lowered the humidity on the digital control. This morning I work up and the humidity was up to 63%. What should I do? Why is this steady rise happening? We are having a VERY VERY wet weather right now. It's been pouring for a few days.

I have been having a terrible time learning how to have a successful hatch. This is my second incubator. The first one was the Little Giant and after 3 unsuccessful hatches I figured out the incuabator was bad. I thought is was me. In part it was - I am sure - but thanks to new friends and advice here at BYC - I figured out it was more the incubator. So I got the Brinsea. I had such high hopes - and now this. Just when I am so close!!

Being your Brinsea has the “ex” on the model, it does have the tubing and do you have a bottle or jar to automatically feed humidity right? Have you check if the the humidity feeder keep on running/turning? If not you should be ok, besides your almost on lockdown, you’ll be upping the humidity to 65-70% anyways. Another thing, is the incubator inside your house or in the coop? If it’s in the house, humidity outside shouldn’t affect the incubator much unless it’s in the laundry or bathroom area.
Make sure that the fan is running inside the incubator for even humidity and temp, on our 4th batch we accidentally loosened the fan connection that cause a false humidity and temp reading.

I normally set my humidity to 45% for 18 days then up to 65 on lockdown, Brinsea EX models has excellent gauge and sensors. I had near 100% hatch the last 4 batches, good luck with your hatch keep us posted.

Yes - it's the EX model with the tubing. The pump isn't "always" running - but intermittently as it has since the beginning. I opened the vent some to see if I could get the humidity down a little. The incubatoris on my kitchen counter.

You should be ok, and let the machine do it’s job, get ready to remove the egg turning carousel in couple of days and replace it with non slip hatching pad, and watch the great hatching experience. :thumbsup
