Brinsea Maxi Ex lockdown humidity

The heated water bucket did the trick - whew! The incubator is ticking along right at 70% humidity. No more overflowing. Feels like walking through a portal into into mid-August in the room now, but that's a good thing given it felt like winter again elsewhere this morning. Fingers crossed my 1-2 eggs pip soon...

I think what happened is the incubator's humidity pump was actually working "correctly" but it got overwhelmed trying to add more and more water trying to get that last 1-2% of humidity up to where I had set it. It couldn't make it to 70% where the sensor was just due to room conditions and doesn't have any kind of fill-level sensor, so it kept cranking and actually decreased its ability to evaporate properly making the situation worse (sinced it had almost completely submerged the evaporation pad). The humidity actually went up a bit in the incubator once I had drained the excess water with a syringe and before I had gotten the bucket going.

Exactly what I had in mind :D
Well the other half initially said "no you can't put that up there," because he initially thought I was talking about dragging a spare 55gal tank up to that room lol. But the idea of a 2-5gal sort of thing was definitely not vetoed, so I may very well do that later this year. A long, long time ago when I lived elsewhere, I used to have a "fish room" that was actually very nice thermally and humidity-wise even when the rest of the house was awful (whether hot or cold), because it was essentially insulated with water walls.
