I searched before posting this and could not find an answer.

Should I actually SEE this thing turn the eggs? How can I be sure it is actually turning? I left it on the factory settings and it is on auto-turn. The little "/" thing is flashing, so it is supposed to be turning.

Any other advice that you experienced folks can offer a first timer??

If you mark your eggs you will be able to see that the eggs do rotate. The turner moves clockwise once and counter clockwise the next time. When the plate turns the eggs roll slightly in their spacer. The frequency of turn can be set as per your preference. Angle can be set also. That determines how far the plate moves thus how far the eggs roll over. I pretty much used the factory setting the first time and had a 100% hatch rate on my own eggs. Pretty nice little machine. Good hatching.

If you're worried it's not turning, check to see how often you have it set to turn. Change it to 10 minutes, save your changes, then set a timer for 15 minutes. You should hear the little motor whir when it turns. If it doesn't turn the eggs, well, that's bad.
