People I have a question. Just bought a new brinsea mini advanced incubator. It has a cooling feature. Should I use it or not? If I should what period of cooling should I set it to? 1 hour or two? Hatching Black Cochin bantams and Japanese long tail bantams.

Kinda late now, but i have a mini advance also and dont use the cooling feature.. Im sure it gives a small boost to hatch rate, but i have had no no problen not using it.. First hatch in my mini advance went 7/7 .. The one im on now was only 4 eggs to bumb my flock number for winter a bit.. 3 developing fine at day 10 and 1 turned out infertile.. I didnt use the cooling feature, but knowing it was an option allowed me to not worry about cool down during candling and refilling water pots

Same here. I never used the feature.

Hatching hasn't been effected I don't think.

I use the cooling feature - 1 hour daily. Sorry for the 5 month delay...didn't see this post before. How was your hatch OP?

Had a power outage today.. Called the electric company and they said between 5-7.. Well that was like 7 hours.. So we loaded up our mini advance and very carefully went down the road to my aunts house, she has a different electic company and maintained power.. Got the bator there and setup.. Tomorrow we gotta bring them home.. We were as gentle as possible, but im still worried.. Either way, better to chance it and keep them warm than wait for power and hope it comes on before our half done chicks are dead

Hopefully they will still hatch alright.

Got them home and good to go.. Candled them, day 11, but just wanted to see that they appeared ok after the last couple days.. They all looked good and had movemment.. 6 days till lockdown.. Cant wait

It is crazy how much better you can see thru a white egg.. Our first hatch we had only brown and green/blue eggs cookin.. This is our first hatch of a leghorn.. Definitely the way to go if people are hatching to show kids

The guys that hatched are grown up today.Three survived. One Bantam (My Favourite) also survived.
