I would put a normal thermometer in make sure it's accurate and even leave it in to moniter it. I don't always trust the digital ones and I actually keep 2 thermometers in my syrafoam hovabator to make sure both of them are accurate too. In the past, I've seen thermometers off by as much as 5 degrees. So just to make sure, I would put in normal one in and compare the two. If they are the same I would consider them accurate, if they are different, you would need a third one to tell you which of those 2 are accurate,
