I have a question about the Brinsea Octagon 20 incubator:

The eggs appear to lie on their sides . . . many incubator instructions have egg holders and say to put the egg "small end down"

I was just wondering about that disparity. Comments ?

Perhaps it doesn't matter since, I assume, the eggs under a broody hen often lie on their sides.

Another question, if the egg is on its side during incubation does the chic pip into the air sack like it should ?

I wonder if it finds that air sack by sensing which way is up . . . or if it knows some other way unrelated to gravity.

Comment well . . . curious here,

Brinsea Oct 20 comes with wire egg rails that allow you to put the eggs in rows and they are standing upright with small end down.

If you do lay eggs laying on their sides in other types of incubators the egg naturally lays a little tilted so the big end points up and the chicks do hatch just fine that way.

Hope that helps.
