I have modified my stance on that a little bit, after losing one in the last batch.I think I'm going to start taking them out when half of them are dry.The humidity comes back up so quickly, that I'm not worried about losing it in just a minute with the top off.I close the air vent until one third open.The owners manual said not to close it anymore than that, and my humidity holds fine
That's what happened to me. I had 22 viable eggs in an Octagon 20, and they were marans, so large chicks. As much as I hate to admit it, the last 2 had trouble hatching because the incubator was so full. I think, from now on, and hatches over 18 viable eggs I will remove at least half of them when they dry. 18 or less and they stayA lot also depends how many you have hatching out though. someone doing 6 eggs and they are all pipping/hatching at the same time, I can understand waiting. Someone doing 40+ like my last hatch..nope, I can't see it...lol
I've lost track. How many developing eggs are making it into lockdown? I feel like I've been waiting for this hatch as long as you have.
Wow. I'm looking forward to the results. I have 26 WCBP that look like they will make it to lockdown on Sunday
Are those the cushions for the egg divider rails?
They are cushions for the chick so they have something comfortable when they are left in the bators for days on end....lol
