Welcome to the BYC flock!
:jumpy

What types of chickens are you hoping for? Tons of eggs? Dual purpose with meat? Friendly pets? Flighty/active free-rangers? We can give you lots of suggestions on breeds once you know what you are looking for!
Thanks Iluveggers! We're looking for tons of eggs and we have space for them to be active free rangers. I hope that helps. I look forward to your suggestions
Thanks again =)

Hello fellow Vancouverite. I just joined this site yesterday. I also garden; we've worked on a boulevard garden for the past 20 years and enjoy the connection with the neighbours. I've always wanted chickens and this is the year! This site has introduced me to the type of coop/run that I want, bedding, litter, health etc ... so much information. Every so often the info is over whelming and a little scary, so I have had moments that I wanted to chicken out, but ultimately, super excited to start the coop build next month and install the teen chickens early June. Would love to trade notes. In the meantime, welcome!

A few good breeds would be Rhode Island Reds, Barred Rocks, Chanteclers, Buckeyes, Australorps, and Delawares. They would all do well in the cold as well! Good luck!
