Hello! I started this thread for giving and receiving advice about gardening. Mostly gardening for animals, such as chickens and rabbits. But I'd love to here all your ideas, plans, and see you gardens! I enjoy growing herbs as they are eye catching, super easy, and have so many benefits for me and my animals. What kind of things do you enjoy growing? What will you be growing? 😁

Here are some of my sprouts... I am planting way more than what I have in here, but this I'll probably take some cutting from some of the herbs and grow off of them. Right now I have Marigolds, Zinnias, Purple Cone Flower, Chamomile, Lemon Balm, Peppermint, Basil, Dill, Hibiscus and Lavender. Then I'll raid all my local gardening stores and steal all their other herbs like sage and thyme. I know some of the things I'm growing are not safe to eat for some of the animals, but they will not have access to it. All of the plants have a purpose for either us or the animals.

I enjoy growing tomatoes, and Lettuce because I use them a lot but this year I might try growing corn as well as some different herbs

I love growing anything and everything!

For the beasties I like to grow tree collards because where I am they grow and produce all year round. I also grow longevity spinach for it's high nutrients and sweet potatoes for the vines as well as roots. The sweet potato vines always start spreading too far so the animals get the vine trimmings...and where I am, they survive the winter in the ground so I never have to replant. I just dig around the edges when I want a sweet potato for cooking.

I love things that I can plant once and have them return year after year. Those are the ones that I always have enough to share freely with my critters.

Dandelion's are good for most animal's, and the whole plant is edible. They have some vitamin's in them, and even calcium. Most people only look at them as being weed's, though. ;)
I know! And some people eat them too! I've never had a good one... But I also don't know what to look for! Haha more research 😉
