Broad breasted hen

My stupid Tom decided to try to mount my hen. Both are white broad breasted. In doing so, he tore open her side. I didnt find out until hours later. I know I need to stop her suffering but I'm wondering if it's ok to butcher her to eat or could possible infection be started making it unsafe to eat? I'm new to turkeys and the 2 that I have now will be the last ones. Any advice would be appreciated.

That does happen occasionally. The wounds will generally heal up over a few months. Since you are going to butcher her I wouldn't use the meat from around the area. Harvest the breasts and legs and stay away from the damaged tissue. Cook well.
