We recently had someone dump chickens near our property. They are all healthy beautiful birds. We have adopted the ones that we could catch. One is a very bright white, small framed bird with yellow legs. I'm not sure if its a broiler type or a white leghorn. Are there ways to determine which it is?

If its a small, lightly built bird, its a Leghorn. Broilers are very large, often have areas missing feathers, very thick legs, and don't move around much. If you want to be sure, you can post some pictures on here. Myself, and I'm sure many others, would love to help confirm what type of chicken you have.

There are many white chickens other than broiler or leghorn. It could be any of many different breeds or just a mix.

How old are they? If they are more than a couple of weeks old, there should be a huge size difference in broilers and any other chickens. Leghorns especially are pretty small.

White Rocks are also quite common and are more built than a white Leghorn, but slighter than a CX. If you had a broiler chick, you'd know it pretty quickly.

Thanks for all the replies. I will try to get some pics. It wont be until later when I get home from work. It may not be a broiler based on what some are saying on here. It will run around and free range very well.

Here it is. Any thoughts on breed and sex?

Cool, I hope so. I have read good things about them. Thanks.

Anyone else have an opinion?
