Broilers as egg layers?

I was given a couple of colored broilers the needed a home. I only keep chickens for eggs and family pets. can i expect eggs from them and can I eat them? Stupid questions I know but.........

The red broilers do lay eggs if you let them keep growing, not a ton, but they will lay

Yep, they are pretty large and for the most part docile.
