I have a silkie hen that started laying for the first time in the middle of August. She laid around 10 eggs, then went broody. The weather was so hot at the time (100+ degrees) and I didn't want her sitting, so I took her nest box away. That did the trick, and after about a week she wasn't broody anymore.
It's been about three weeks since I put the nest box back in, but no eggs. She doesn't have any chicks with her, and as far as I can tell she's not molting. She acts normally just like she did before when she was laying.
Anyone have a similar experience with a hen? What gives?
