My two-year-old silver polish chicken has a broken beak. I don't know how long it's been like this, or how to fix it so I need help.

Beaks can heal. I would take her feed crumbles or pellets and soak them. Make a mash or soupy consistency so she can lap it up. It’s sore and hurts her to eat. Make sure others are not pecking her or her wound. You could get a spray bottle with diluted betadine and spray the beak to keep it clean.

The tip looks like it might come off. It will regrow it will take a while. It’s like ripping the tip of your finger...ouch. They use their beaks for everything so she won’t be pecking. You could use antibiotic cream on it. Even give her oral antibiotics (carefully). Best wishes

It may have broken because it was overgrown.
The upper beak is barely supposed to extend over the lower.

I would ever so gently trim some of it. It may heal or it may break off where the injury is however.
The suggestion about cleaning it with betadine is a good one but I’d just dab with a cotton swab rather than spray.

While it’s healing, feed her crumbles soaked with water(mash) so she doesn’t have to peck . They also like oatmeal and yogurt.

In a few days you can trim a little more.

I would be very careful. Let it heal some and File. The beak to me looks that way because of the injury. If it had overgrown because there is nothing for the hen to use...rocks pavers or anything for them to naturaly File their beaks that’s something to look into. Just my 2 cents worth.
