broken beak

my Japanese quail that is 1 year old broke the tip of his beak. im doing my best to help him and feeding him soft foods. how long will it hurt for him ? and how long will it take for him to recover ?

We'll be able to give you a much better answer with a picture. If it's just the tip of the beak it won't take long at all, but it really depends on how bad it is.

I don't know much about quail, but my chickens' beaks have broken like that, and they grow back relatively quickly. If there isn't any blood, I don't think it's painful.

You may want to provide a brick or something for him to file his lower beak down on, but it doesn't look bad. You only need to worry if he's actually having trouble eating, so keep an eye on him.
