we have our food and water containers hanging in the run from the hardware cloth. i was trying to take it off and broke one tiny bit of the wire where it was hanging, and i just moved it to another square hole nearby to hang from. is there a way to seal the small break in the wire?

You could take a piece of wire and sew back and forth across the opening, rather like mending a hole in a piece of fabric.

Or you can cut a scrap of hardware cloth bigger than the hole, and put it over the hole.
To attach it, you can use plastic zip ties (they eventually break and need replacing), or you can take a piece of wire and sew it into place, or you can use J-clips or hog rings or similar metal connectors.
