Late yesterday as I preparing to put the ducklings up, I noticed one was crawling...she has broken her leg...with a lack of duck anatomy, its the joint where leg attaches to body, may called a hip...not sure. My husband made a splint and we have separated her from the others. She is eating and drinking and still amazingly agile. I tried to make a sling using the pattern I found on this site, using a t-shirt pulled over a tote with leg and poop holes, but she would use her good leg and squirm in it. She never got out, but I was afraid she might hurt herself. Im reading that breaks heal fast and let her rest...but I am concerned about her foot. It looks withered and drawn.. I have yet to see her fan it out like her good foot. I am wondering if the break heals if she will be able to walk. What is the time line for healing...is the foot a concern or is it normal to be drawn up...She is a duckling purchased from Rural King and not sure how old she was then, but we have had her a few weeks and she is just beginning to get feathers if that helps age her plus we did not witness the exact injury....
