Its day 3 and an egg broke under my broody hen. So one chick lost.

The problem is when the egg broke one remaining half shell got wedged over another egg and the yolk stuck them together like glue. I know eggs are porous and need to breathe so I very carefully picked off most of the shell from the broken egg. There's still a bit left. Is this chick still viable? Will it have a hard time getting out of the egg when, in some places, there's a double layer. Should I just wait and see? Candle it? Anyone had this happen before? Usually when there's a broken egg the yolk gets absorbed in the shavings and I remove any pieces of shell out.

I have had this happen. Candle the egg when you can, and if the egg is fertile there probably won't be a problem. Remove as much of the broken egg as you can. I don't wash eggs that are being incubated, but if you look on the net it will tell you how if you want to go that route.
