Broken eggs

I have 6 hens that roost together. Ages between 15-19 weeks. 5 Australorp and one Barred Rock. One of my australorp girls just started laying this week. She is 19 wks old. As expected her egg was small but each day I have gotten an egg that is slightly bigger than the day before. Until today.
I went to check this morning and found the egg broken. Oddly there was no shell. I found the broken yoke still on the bedding, just no shell anywhere.
Any ideas on this?

One of my chickens did this when she was younger she only did it once and then never did it again

think of it as "a chickens learning curve" Their body is just figuring out how to make an egg. Sometimes you will get leathery soft shells, or no shell and weird shapes.

This is not anything to worry about right now she is young and her system is developing only if this continues for a couple months should you worry just sit back and observe for now and enjoy those eggs

Thanks everyone. Once I got eggs, I became a nervous chicken mamma again.

Yep, all of mine laid soft shell eggs at first, here and there. It seemed to happen mostly at night, like they laid them too early.

Thinks softies 'feel' like a poop.....so they don't go to nest, especially newbies.
