Broken feathers but no predator in sight

I have a 4 yr old hen that started having broken feathers. It seems to be getting worse every few days, but video doesn't show any other animals and she is fenced in with 3 other hens. She doesn't have mites or anything, and the other hens look just fine. What is this from?

She's molting, & those are pin feathers.

To me it looks like she is molting. Hens don’t always molt the same each year, so if she didn’t look like this on her other molts, that would be normal.

In the fall, the old broken feathers on a chicken that are all broken down from the past year fall out to make way for nice new feathers for winter. The regrowing feathers are called pin feathers, and that is what you are seeing on your hen.

No problem! They'll look pretty scruffy for a while, but they'll look beautiful with their fresh, new feathers.
