Broken joint in cockerel!

Advice needed please, I have a cockerel who decided to get into a fight with another cockerel who weights more. He now looks like he has broken his leg at the knee joint (not sure what it's called). When he stands his leg at the knee pushes out to the side. Is there anything I can do for this or is it game over. I have confined him, splinted the leg and given him pain relief, there if a possibility I could take him to a vet but that won't be until next week. What can I do? Can they recover from this? I can't believe it happened he is my most expensive one ‍

Does he walk on the bad leg, or does he limp or hold it up? He may have some tendon or ligament damage. The sooner you could see a vet (who hopefully is familiar with birds or chickens,) the better. He may need some meloxicam for inflammation and pain. The vet could evaluate and give help with splinting. Aspirin 81 mg twice a day could be given in some food he likes for pain and inflammation. Chickens can develop arthritis later in joints, but he might be able to be bred if he recovers from this injury. Here is a splinting manual to look at pages 17-23 to help you:

He walks on it with a limp and when he does his knee goes to the side. I have it wrapped in vet wrap to stabilise it at the moment and he can walk almost normally with it on now better than he did without it. I have given him some metacam and the avian vet near me I am waiting to hear back from at the moment.
