2 year old buttercup chicken was totally fine on Sunday morning. Laid an egg and was free ranging in the yard. Around noon we noticed her limping and isolated her to the garage. She was okay on Sunday and earlier Monday, sometimes can stand up on one leg. We didn't notice any external injuries on the injured leg except she couldn't stand on it and curled up her feet. Last night was cold here in northern California so we put a heat lamp on for her and she stayed right under it. This morning she is not interested in food at all, we tried everything, bread with yogurt, eggs, freeze dried meal warms. We crushed Aspirin and mixed with food but she is not interested.
I don't know if she will survive like this. But i can't think of anything else other than a broken limp?
Please help.

Will she drink? Has she pooped?
You can give her fluids drop by drop on the beak and it’ll roll into her mouth.

Does she have anything at all in her crop?

Could you post some nice clear pictures of her so we can help you figure this out?

One of her face too please.

Can you post some photos of Buttercup? Her poop, vent, legs, whole body, etc.?

Was Sunday the last time she laid an egg? Can you feel inside her vent to see if she has an egg stuck?

Thank you for your replies.

DH stayed home all day to monitor her. She ate little by little. Seems more interested in food when we feed her but I think she eats okay now. Thank god. Maybe the Aspirin finally kicked in.

She tries to stand up on the injured leg but we think she might have broken her hip bone. Her injured leg was warmer and inflamed. If it is broken hip how do we help her stabilize and how to prevent her from trying to stand up?

Will post pictures. Thank you.

DH just cleaned her housing so will have to wait till tomorrow morning to take pictures of her poo.

We think she is probably lonely and stressed. We got a dog crate that we can put her outside so she can see the other two chickens. Is that a good idea during the day or just keep her inside under the heat lamp?

My opinion is to bring her indoors to keep her warm and for your own convenience.
Monitoring a seriously ill or injured animal is simpler if you don’t have to go outside to do it.

A heat lamp isn’t necessary really as long as you have a warm room you can put her and the crate in.
Even covering the crate with a light blanket or sheet for the cooler night hours will prevent drafts and add some warmth. A safe space heater or bumping up your thermostat would help too.
You can provide a stuffed animal or mirror to keep her company.

***I’m wondering if a homemade chicken sling might be helpful or harmful in this situation?

I hope someone else will chime in with their opinion on this.
