Broken leg won't eat

It is pretty easy to make a chicken sling out of clamps, a piece of material, and a rubbermaid container (large) where her legs will not touch ground. Here are examples:

I don't know of any avian vets in Fremont, but there is one in San Francisco, Soquel, Monterey, Oakley, and Davis. There's also one in Cupertino, but she's expensive and I know several people that can't stand her, and a few that have left in tears because she was so condescending and rude.
 
Thank you for the info. Do you know the name of the one in Cupertino?
Can she heal on her own if left untreated?
I am dreading the trip and afraid to further stress the chick, but if it is the sure way to recovery then we should do it.

I'd rather not bad mouth a vet on a public forum, so I sent you a private message. There are other avian vets in Cupertino, but I don't know much about them. Adobe Animal Hospital in Mountain View sees birds too, and they are excellent vets, but I don't they have much experience with birds.

Thank you! Made an appointment with West Valley for Friday afternoon. Visits $65, $135 per X-ray. Money is not as much an issue as the time and stress to take her there and back.

Today she seemed to be the same- will eat some food while we are there and still keeps trying to stand up but fall miserably-poor girl. I am concerned that she is eating too little. Takes half an hour to get her to eat less than half of a hard-boiled egg.
Can chicken eat sitting down? She seems to prefer standing up when we feed her and after she eats.

Her poos are too little and a bit watery.

oh good, glad you can do that!

Do you have a kitchen scale you can weigh her on? Friday is only a couple of days away, but I worry about them not drinking and eating enough, so I would weigh her daily.

They can eat and drink sitting or standing.
 
After the X-ray and identify the fracture/dislocation, what can the vet do?
In other words, what are the differences in outcome if we were to splint/sling her ourselves vs. professional vs. leave her as is?
