Broken leg?

So long story short my dogs got into my FENCED chicken area (fixing tomorrow) and i dont know if they stepped on this birds leg or if it got its self caught on the fence but it is refusing to move its leg when i pick it up the leg just hangs there. its feels like the knee?? is dislocated like maybe it went so far back it broke the tendons or something? it wont even move the toes.

What do i do? let it live on its side for a while or make it in to a Cornish hen? at 23 days?

If the leg is broken and dangling, it would probably be hard to fix. If you have photos you would like to share that would be good.

Personally, since this is a meat bird, I would process her to end her suffering. I would not let a bird live on it's side just to grow them out more.

X2. I am sorry to hear about this for you and your bird. I just went through this yesterday myself and I would have sworn that it was a dislocation. Sadly, in my bird's case it was indeed broken and now we are having to cull and process him today.

hey thank you guess so much for the help but i did look today and it indeed has snapped at the joint and i dont want her to suffer any longer, we are going to processes her as a Cornish hen and see how it taste , she is still really small but id rather get a few bites out of her then let her life go to waste, thank you all so much!

okay so weird update she has been sitting in a box with food and water until i was able to cull her (first time raising birds friend is helping me but lives a bit from me). I went to let her have some fun in the sun (dont want her last days in a box) what does she do?? use her leg and hobble around..... So i put her back in the box got her a new friend and we are going to see if she is going to heal herself, ill give her a week and if she is still hobbling around shell be culled fingers crossed!

Sounds like a plan.
Meaties can have leg problems because of weight gain, wonder if she slipped a tendon and it somehow went back into place while she was at rest.
You never know with chickens.

The chicken is perfectly fine and is now living out side with the others, happy healthy and a little skinnier but better that way to keep the weight off that leg. but she walks around just fine and no one is picking on her. Side note one barred rock got out and i cant find it, no feathers just poop lol so down an egg layer even on meat birds

Sorry to hear you are missing a chicken, hopefully she will show back up.
