In the Brooder
Hi there. I'm just back from the vets with a silkie chicken with a suspected broken leg. I have been given 10ml Metacam to give her for 2 weeks. She is staying in her coop as it is low to the ground. The vet has told me to keep an eye that she is not being picked on while vulnerable by the other 4 silkies.
My question is this. He recommends that we don't eat the eggs from that one, while being treated or for three weeks after. Is there any way to identify who laid what eggs? Can I give her some sort of food that would make them a different colour? As apart from sitting in with them all day I can't think how I'll tell. Obviously I don't want to exclude her for fear of reintroduction problems in 5 weeks time. Any advice greatly appreciated.
