Broken nail

Hi - my peacock seems to have broken a nail or maybe a small cut on the toe by the nail- I can’t tell. He is bleeding. Still walking around and acting normal. He will not let me touch him, even attacked me when I tried. My question is - do I need to worry? Can they bleed out from a broken nail?

He is not bleeding profusely, but he keeps leaving bloody toe prints when he walks. Been like that for awhile (couple hours) now, thought it would’ve clotted by now.

If it is still bleeding/weeping, you can put a small piece of vet wrap on the toe like a compression bandage. Don't tape it on, in a couple of days the vet wrap should fall off.

Baking soda helps stopp bleeding as well.

Thank you all for the info/suggestions. I waited till he perched for the night and was able to get some styptic powder on him, without him trying to murder me! Lol

Had to clean up a pretty good amount of blood this morning - I think every time he sat down on his feet it would squish more blood out. He is doing good today, no more bleeding!
