"broken neck " disease? UPDATE- Help

I also mixed the chick feed with pedialyte. The electrolytes really helped them, but water is fine if you don't have any handy! Good luck!

I have a 2 month old silkie that I just received yesterday. I believe another bird may have pecked her head in transport. So I am treating her for wry neck

She is not currently eating or drinking on her own. So I am giving her fluids hourly (during the day, a bit less at night so we can all sleep), vitamins E & B (I'll get selenium in the morning), and attempted to feed her some mash.

How much mash do you feed and how often?

I've got a chick I think has this same disease. Where do you purchase these baby vitamins? A regular drug store??
Thanks

You can get poly vi sol (baby vitamins without iron) at any drug store. I got mine at Walmart.

I hope your little chicky gets better

I have a 4 day old do the same thing to me. He was throwing up some kinda clear fluid and has trouble holding his head up straight. He kept doing backflipps. After giving him CPR (i know wierd.) We but him in a box to die. But lo and behold! The little thing made it.

That's GREAT!!!! Poly-Vi-Sol can work miracles in these little crooked neck chicks. I urge everyone to give it a try before putting a chick down. Sometimes a chick just has a vitamin deficiency due to a malabsorption issue that the others don't have and just needs a little vitamin boost. Poly-Vi-Sol (liquid baby vitamin/supplement made by Enfamil) has all the B vitamins and other vitamins that are important to the little chicks. I add a few dropper fulls to a small shallow dish of water (candle lid) for all my newly hatched chicks for the first few days of life.

Gerber also makes a liquid baby vitamin that is the exact same thing and same ratio of vitamins and ingredients as the Enfamil Poly-Vi-Sol so if someone can't find one, you can usually find the other sold wherever baby products are sold.

Good job on saving your little chick.
