broken shells

Hi! Newbie here, my Orpington-Maran cross pullett has been laying eggs with small holes in the shell. The holes are round, and the shell is laying on the membrane of the egg. I am offering them oystershell besides the layer ration. The shells also seem very thin.
I thought maybe she was dropping them from the roost, but yesterday she gave me one in the nest box. Are these eggs safe to eat? Could this be caused by one egg pushing the other in the process?

If she just started laying, I'd continue as you are and hope things correct themselves in time. When they first start laying, odd things may happen for a month or so, as if they don't get egg laying down pat right away.

I'd be concerned about contamination, so if I ate them at all, it would only be when thoroughly cooked, as in baking.
