Hey, this sweet little bantam keeps getting picked at!

At first her toe was just raw looking, but now she only puts weight on it when she has to.

When she isn't moving around she keeps it tucked up under her like a flamingo.

All the others keep picking at it. It isn't bleeding, just raw.

Is it broken? Or just hurting her cause they have picked at it so much?

Besides blu-kote, is there anything I can put on it, so they will leave her alone?

Should I isolate her for a few days til it's healed and no longer raw looking so they won't bother it? I hate to separate her from everyone for a while, but I can if I need too. Thanks!!

You could try some iodine or a little spot bandaid or a piece of a large bandaid on it? If they pick at the bandaid it shouldn't hurt. A strip of vet wrap would also work, but dont get it too tight. I would hate to separate her unless she is getting hurt, since she needs to remain part of the group

I didn't even think of a plain ol bandaid! Thanks!!

Should I worry about the toe being bent at a little bit of an angle? When I was looking into it, I came across that some chicks just have a bent toe at birth and it's nothing to worry about. Do you think that's the case here?

Oh I just thought of something else you could make a little shoe out of paper tape (see below.) But the taping of just one toe in it's normal position. might be best.
