One of my chickens fell earlier today off of a bench, and got her toe stuck between two pieces of wood. I don't know how long she hung there upside down, but her toe was bent at an extreme angle.

First of all, what should I do?

What should I do as far as pain medicine.

Please be quick, thanks.

Edit: Here is a picture of the toe:

what are her symptoms? is she limping?..do you know for sure it is broken?

chickens dont react to pain the same way we do there have been members that have done surgeries with little to no pain meds

Bend that sucker back into place and tape it to a tiny stick, like a piece of a bamboo skewer or a thick matchstick. As far as pain meds go, I don't use them. I've had a couple of birds with broken toes. It doesn't seem to slow them down.

We just got her free a few minutes ago, and she was nearly lifeless. She is moving around more now, but she has not been back on her feet.

Ok, she is eating now. She has very little energy (she probably spent a bit of time flailing around when she initially fell) but she has taken a few steps, and she is limping a bit.
