i checked on my birds this morning and seen that one of them had caught her toe inbetween the 2 pieces of tung & groove that make up the roost. she wasnt swinging by her leg as the nest boxes arenext to it so its a drop of about half a foot (they are in an 'L' shape). i managed to release her leg & she can move her thigh. put her in the nest box with some food to see how she goes. checked on her about 3hrs later and she managed to get outside with the rest of them. shes mobile but only using one leg & her wings to help.
checked on her tonight to make sure she was able to get back in but found her under the ramp sheltering. put her back in the nest box for tonight with some food. i have taken a photo of her toe and will try and post it on her so i can get your advice. it doesnt seem to be an open wound but red. she was able to put the foot flat so maybe it will heal it self.
last thing i want to do it put her to sleep. people laugh at me because i refer her (and the rest) as my girls and they are treated more like pets!!!!

First here is my post from this summer about a chick with a broken toe: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=192885
Now
let me tell you what ended up happening it would dunk it (it's foot) in water so it would come of and it and the other chick would also pull it off of his foot. I ended up giving up on a splint and it healed on its own and now he is a very pretty rooster with a bent toe. But yours sounds worse so I would post the pictures and see if me or someone else can help.

here we are. ive checked on her tonight & this time she was in the shed sitting on the small table ive put in there. the rest of the birds were up on their normal roosting place. i think she must've gone outside today as i left her snuggly in a nest box covered with bedding to keep her warm.
i put her down on the floor ans is standing on both feet but didnt walk much (suppose it was 7pm & pitch black!!!!) all she wanted to do was sit down to roost.
ive sprayed it with savalon which we use on our kids if they get cuts.
