My favorite show rooster broke off three tops of his primary wing feathers. I posted another thread a bit ago, but I only got one person responding so I was wondering if anybody else had any insight. Will they grow back by late? June? Is there anything I can do to promote him growing back new feathers besides adding protein?

Other wing for reference

He won't regrow feathers until the broken feathers fall out - think molt. If he were mine, I would see if I could pull the feather stubs. It works on pigeons, but I have never done it with a chicken.

Okay! Does this promote growth? And does it bleed on pigeons? It will probably be similar.

Please have corn starch or styptic powder on hand if removing a large diameter feather shaft that isn’t being pushed out naturally by a molt. Bleeding is always at least some risk, clotting is something birds aren’t always great at, and the skin holding onto the shaft around primaries can be torn easily and bleed even if the feather pore itself doesn’t. Not to say it will be catastrophic or that it’s certain to bleed, it may just pop out - just be prepared if it doesn’t.

Okay! Thank you!
