After looking at some beautiful bird pics that @AugeredIn posted I wanted to get an opinion of a couple of chicks I have. They are not as dark or beautiful as AugeredIn birds but perhaps I can get some input as to what they are or are not. Perhaps they are nothing but IBs or perhaps something more?

Sorry about the moving target...

The one with her head in the bowl.

Of course I can't neglect posting a picture for Mindy of Nanu with the bird in question.

Ah, finally a good pic!

These are the inside chicks, the youngest ones I have but there are two with dark heads and back necks, most of my IBs have the white back of the head/neck like the one on the left.

Any and all comments welcome!

How old are these girls?
My 2 bronze hens are showing almost NO green on the head and neck, they are very dark in that area. I of course am very new to Bronze, so I don't know if they are all like mine or not?

Nanu looks like he is getting tall.

The one outside is probably a June hatch and the ones inside are probably August. I will have to do a better job next year of IDing the chicks. These were always darker than the rest and I have been wondering for quite some time. I don't have any Bronze birds but then I don't have any BS hens either but got some chicks just the same. We need to start a thread on the best way to tag our stock.

Nanu is looking good, he, Prince, and Firstborn are getting to be big boys.

I take it since the two on the left are hens they are the ones you are referring too. The far left one has a cream back of the head... does that mean something since you know they are Bronze?

I don't know if that lighter head means anything or not. I do know the one is darker than the other and the one has that light patch of tail feathers. I believe the father of these Bronze was a Bronze BS and the hens were Bronze barred wings, or IBBS split to Bronze. In order for them to be barred wings they HAVE to be bronze, if the IBBS were the mom they would be BS as well. So I don't know why one is darker, I think they both HAVE to be Bronzes. The darker one shows a tiny bit more green on the neck but I can't see it in person, I only see it in photos.
