Brood heating question for you guru's, lightless infrared heat

Yes, but this is for quail chicks

They need lots of light so they eat almost constantly and grow to be big fat little birdies fairly quickly

Fantastic! Thank toy everyone for your input!

Yes, it's one of those heater bulbs that look like q par38 flood, no light, radiant heat, and the ceramic material makes nice instant burn scars...lol

Chics are well today.

Yes, I was thinking that their metabolism being much higher with 24/7 lightening, however I witnessed two of the older hatchlings starting to pull on the others' feathers. Since then no more pulling.

I would imagine in a production setup 24/7 lighting must be absolute necessity as time is money.

If I continue with the lightless heat do you think it will be as drastic as 1/2 the normal brooding light chic growth?

Again, thanks to everyone for your help!

I am going to see what I can find anything on their light vs. metabolism as I noticed a drastic change in their dropping in less than 8 hours. When I had the brooder light on 24/7 they where on a 5 minute cycle I noticed their droppings where mostly unprocessed food. Now that they are a long night cycle the droppings have zero unprocessed food.

I wonder where the tipping point is as to food waste vs growth rate...that would be interesting.

Thanks again for all help and guidance.
