Okay I had one born 8 AM Wed morning and then the last one at around 8PM Wed. night.
I still have 6 eggs unhatched and with NO visible pips in them left in the incubator.
All chicks are fluffy and dry and walking around.. climbing on the other eggs, playing, and pecking at anything and everything.

Can I move them to the brooder. I do have a water bottle with room temp water in it that I was going to have my daughter mist the incubator when I would grab one.

Will this brooder be okay... I have a small little turtle sandbox (clean no sand) that I put rough paper towels in the bottom of. I hooked up a heat lamp Wed. afternoon and put a thermometer under it. Now it is reading 99-100 degrees and holding. It does NOT heat the whole box but probably 1/4 of it. I put an ice cream bucket lid down with just a little water around the rim for and sprinkled some chick starter on the paper towel at the rim of the heat. Is this okay?

Is it safe to move them or should I wait till the last one hatched is exactly 24 hours old.

Sorry for the questions but I am trying really hard to do what is best for them.

Thank you so much
Jacinta

I would go ahead and move them. It should fine since there aren't any visible pips right now.

Your brooder sounds like it's fine as well. They actually need space to get out from under the light if they get too hot, so your light is fine. Watch how they act - bunched up under it and they're too cold -- smashed against the edges and they're too hot - spread out and sleeping and they're just fine. :) Enjoy!
