These will be our first chix. When we first get our chix I'll keep them in an old caged dog crate. We are getting 5
Barred Rocks. I hear they grow fast ... and when they outgrow the dog crate... I'll surround them with cardboard,
a foot high... till they're old enough to go into the new coop. My question is.... is it important the chix be able
to see "out into the world"... if they are behind the cardboard in an enclosed circle.... is it necessary for them to see
out beyond that? Or is that maybe better that they stay in a "small world", within the inner walls of the cardboard?

I think I liked to see the chicks more than they needed to see out.

You might want to think HIGHER than a foot high, though. By two weeks, mine were jumping out of a box that size.
