I use pine bedding. I bought mine at fleet farm and only paid around 5 dollars for 5x5 cubic feet of bedding in the horse section. That's a lot of pine at a good price.

i am a 2 week old newbie myself! We put about 2-3 inches of pine shavings down and then paper towels (not newspaper) on top. I was told newspaper gets too slippery and can hurt their little legs. It has been working really well for us. We change the towels 1 or 2x a day and stir the shavings around. It has been a pretty easily cleanable way for us to keep the girls happy!

Congrats on ur additions and to let u know they r sooooooo adicting!

I'm a newbie myself. I've been using used bath towels. I love it because I can shake the towels off outside a couple times a day to keep the chicks living area clean and throw the towels in the wash when they need a solid cleaning. Happy days with your new chicks!

I use shredded newspaper. Yep, just run your already read newspaper through the paper shredder. I brood in the house and I find shavings to be far to dusty. Chicks seem to LOVE the fluffy shredded paper and will make little "nests" in it and really conk out!
