Brooder heat plate

They walk under and sit under then walk out to eat and drink and scratch ..they don’t stay on the edges or staying away ..it’s 77 in my house they use it at night they sleep under.

I think your temp is fine then! If you see them never going under it or staying far away from it all day, that’s a sign it’s too warm in the brooder.

I checked with the commercial thermometer that my husband had , directly in the center of the plate is 95 the sides show 85 and the other side of the brooder shows 77, 79 depends where I point the thermometer… so I think they will be ok, they slept under ok and they go back n forth and use it when needed I guess .
