Brooder light query

How long do I keep the light on the brooder? Shouldn't they get used to it being dark at night? At what age should the transition process begin?

Raise your brooder lamp a couple inches every week after hatching, or 5 degrees/week if you have a temperature controlled brooder. If you turn it off the temperature will plummet and you will most likely kill your chicks. Nothing wrong with it being light all the time, they sleep when they feel like it.
