So I bought a 100 watt reptile basking light for my day old chicks. But I was thinking they would need one for the night. Am I supposed to get a nightlight too?

i have a regular 100watt bulb. Is there an advantage to the red bulbs other than more heat? In test my 100 watt is just about right. My fuzzy butts should be here in 3 days.

I have had less picking using red lamps.

A 100 watt bulb will throw off the same amount of heat, no matter the color, unless I am very mistaken.

Red is calmer for the chicks then white, it will also not mess up there internal clock. I look at it like this, I would much rather sleep with a red light then a bright white in my face.
