Brooder location

Hi all. T minus 6 days till fluff balls. I have two quick questions. I will be doing the premier one plate. If I place the puppy pen brooder in the garage do I have to worry about car fumes if we also park the car in the garage? Also if I'm using a plate, the garage or the basement do not have windows. Do I need a light on a timer to simulate daytime?

We have kept are chicks in a garage and they have lived.

Ideally I guess it'd be best if you didn't use the garage for cars while brooding, though I've had chicks in there a few nights during heavy rain and didn't have issues.

And yes you should supply light if there's no windows, as the chicks can't see in the dark.
