I don't plan to even though it may break my heart, but so far my gut feelings about this batch has been right on, and I wasn't in full doubt about these 3, just in question, and so far, the dented one reassured me that so far, so good. That one has been talking and rocking, so basically if I'm understanding correctly, as of this morning it internally pipped since I heard it and it was rocking, so it has to break through to external pipping like 14 & 19 have in the next 24-48hrs in order not to suffocate? Then from there on out it's just a matter of unzipping the egg and coming out? That is the part I've been and admittedly am still confused on. Once they enter the air sac, and are rocking/peeping, they have 24-48hrs to externally pip like what I'm seeing with my 2 before it shrink wraps?? So even though the eggs are externally pipping they are now getting air to breath?? I'm sorry, I feel stupid and I'm trying to understand the process.

Funniebunnies- I am enjoying all your questions and your being impatient. I go into lockdown in like 9 days and I seem to be a lot like you. I am very impatient and I am forcing myself to stay away from the incubator. I'm hoping that with all this "practice" staying away now, that when its lockdown time, it will make it easier for me. Right now I want to candle all the time, and I'm doing better than I thought with waiting every couple/few days... I find if i keep myself busy, then I won't candle them....... Plus I am learning from all your questions and/or mistakes, so thanks for all the questions. I hope your hatch turns out well.....

LOL, thank you! I hope so as well as well as for yours. Believe me, I'm keeping myself busy around the house to avoid constantly looking, but I admit, I do especially now I saw how fast external pipping can be, walk away with the egg as smooth as ice, to 5min you see a mount of the shell up and the little tike peeping and rocking. I just hope this time the old saying "Good things come to those who wait" hold true!

Internal pip - rocking and chirping - comes first and this should be for 24 hours before the external pip.
External pip - still rocking and chirping, eventually it will zip around the shell in a circular motion expanding the pip - this takes 24-48 hours.

The hole process is 3 days.

After that you have to reevaluate the remaining eggs.

Shrink wrapping happens after the external pip when the humidity is to low or had drops. Sometimes it happens when the membrane is to thick. It is also more common in incubators with a fan that runs at hatching time. That why it is better to have a second incubator without fan for hatching only. The fan is good while incubating. Shrink wrapping prevents the duckling from zipping and getting out of the shell and it eventual will die. This is when you should help. As I've said you wait full 48 hours from the external pip before even considering it.

So send me picture when you get there and I will help you as much as I can.

Will do, also since we are more on a personal level now, you can all call me "Missy" rather then type a long word such as "FunnyBunnies12".

So basically I should be looking at the earliest tomorrow night from # 14 external pip to hatch, to sometime on Sunday morning for #19, and there after for the others if they pip? I think I understand finally

It's better, if you can do it. It reduces the risk of shrink wrapping. Make sure your eggs are away from the walls and especially corners when you run it without a fan.

It's so ironic that all the duck books avoid these little things. I guess they all use the real expensive large machines that do it for them, and they have just forgotten about all of us little home incubator users. I wonder, if I should write a website for the little man. I have more time in January, and I start to think I will tackle this job. The stuff you should know and nobody teaches. Trust me I have read a lot of duck books. They all say the same, but don't go into the tiny details that drive newbies crazy.

Ok maybe I'm a bit paranoid right now being so close to hatching. Mine aren't in the corner they are in the center. Glad I made you laugh rather then frustrated. Come on 13 break through somewhere clear.
