Brooder Pictures! Is this OK???

Woops! Totally flew by the thermometer in your first post. Sorry!
It sounds like you have it worked out. That was my only concern then, covering the bulb from any unexpected bumps by the chicks.
Looks plenty big to start off 7 bantam chicks!

I was thinking the same thing blue. I ended up using my clear Rubbermaid Christmas Tree container and it has been in use now for almost 2 months straight. My pullets that are in their now are the 3rd set of chicks. My poor tree is probably wondering what happed to it's home!

Just glad to know I'm not the only one that just can't seem to say "no".

my rubbermaid bin is a 90 gallon bin...something like that. the top, i cut out the center and placed the wire cloth which is held on with screws and washers. i have four of these bins...lol

i put the bin on top of a table which keeps my dogs away from the bin and of course, my bin snaps closed on each end. my cats could care less. the wire cloth makes it easy to put the lamp on close or far withouth having to somehow hang it. i also keep the bin in a spare room to avoid traffic from those who may be curious while i'm not home.
