Hello everyone. Just a quick question about chicks behavior in the brooder. What ive red is that the chicks should be spread about the brooder floor, My temperature is fine but they still seem to spend a lot of there time huddled up in the center under the light. They are very active and run around all over the place. Is it to be expected that while they are sleeping or resting that they would spend most of there time directly under the lamp, they like to roost on a board under the light. I was worried they were cold. thanks Richard

Sounds like you have it just right. They climb all over each other into a pile when cold and make frantic or pleading peep sounds. You'd know. They should come to the heat to rest and warm up and then run all over until they tire and are ready for another break. If they were sleeping outside the circle of light, that would mean it was too warm.

They gravitate towards the heat when they sleep. They get into a "ChickPile" and crash. Your chicks sound as if they are comfortable and acting like peeps.
