Brooder Size??

Hi all,

My babies are 1 1/2 weeks old now and growing fast.

I am using a little tykes toy box as a brooder. It measures 30" X 18". How long will they be able to stay in this?

These are my first.... I thought I could get away with them being in their longer...

How much longer do you think they can be in there?

What can I use next?? (before going to their outside coop)

tomarrow i'll of had my chicks a week. i started in a 30 gal aquirium. i was only supposed to get 12 and got 22. i thought i would be able to keep them in there for a couple of weeks, but with so many there growing out of it and wanting to fly out so today there going to a bigger one. im sure with only a couple as in your pic im sure youll get at least 3 or 4 weeks.....

I agree. Being that you dont have very many, they should be able to get to about 3-4 weeks in that size brooder. the good news is by that age, if its warm enough by you, you could conceivably put them outside and not need another, bigger brooder.
