BROODER thread! Post pics of your brooders!

@KuroKitsune I like your design, the 2/3 flip door on top is very similar to the concept we went with this winter when we brooded our bunch. And is that linoleum in the bottom for easy cleaning?

Do you have pics of it with the chicks in and lights running? I love seeing these homemade, DIY creations!

Nice size.
You might want to put it up on legs or a table......and put wire, or wire door, on the front too.

its up on pallets and thanks for the idea of wire or wire door on front

if it was on a table i dont think id be able to reach in unless it was a really short tables as this brooder is 2ft or 2.5ft tall

Quote: Yeah, would have to be low table...after cobbling several brooders, I had this one built..30 x 36 tall x 72 long
Front openings can be leaned into pretty easy to reach all corners, it's sitting on veg crates about 16" high.

yes the lino on the bottom is for easy cleaning and i dont have pics of it up and running with chicks in yet as my chicks dont ship out till the 10th(this wednesday) and will behere the 11th or 12th....will get pics then of it with the chicks in

The only potential problem spots I see are easy fixes. The round dowel for your lamp clip is a high risk for swiveling down, causing the lamp to be deep into the brooder. That could be a fire hazard or create a heat issue for chicks. I'd recommend a 2x4 in place of the dowel if you have one laying around. Any flat board would do, just so it can't roll and re-position into a problem.

The water and food being in the corner/near the edge will end up with chicks kind of piling into the corners and between the feeder and the wall. They rate those little units for about a dozen birds, but for that to work they need access to the full outside edge of it.

Otherwise I think you've got a nice easy clean space!
