I just opened a link in the chain a little so it can unhook easily and be reattached higher if I like but the chicks won't be able to knock it loose. That jack chain is plenty of support but also easy to open/close links with a needle nose plier so there's no need for s hooks. The wire cage stays for the time I'll use it. It's galvanized wire, I just wash the whole thing.

My hubby noticed my brooder box said village people on the side (used to hold xmas stuff) and said....you have the village people in there? I told him yes and I would name one "young man" lol

Here's mine with the MHP at the top of the picture. When I take the divider out it will be a 2 x 8 brooder. The chick's are 3 days old!
