Here's what we came up with when we found out we were not getting 12, but 77 chicks! This is in our garage and it takes up about a third of the space.

Two play yards fully expanded, chicken wire and corrugated roofing panels for the top and sides. Keeps puddy cat paws from chicky dinners!

250 watt red bulb for heat, a VHS tape rack for a wee roost. They have done great! Haven't lost one, knock on wood!! Every one is happy and has loads of room!

Well, my chicks have been outside since they just turned two weeks, in their non-heated outdoor coop. Lots of fresh hay and shavings, roosts, etc. They LOVE it. Good job, as my brooder is being filled again next week. Pics of my brooder - page 126

We were lent a brooder...The Chix House. My DH stripped off and replaced the old, rusty chicken wire over the play area, sealed up all of the holes, put up a tarp/wind break, put up a shelf and fixed the roost, fixed the door between the run and house. It looks fab! Here are the pics...

Here's hubby...inside the coop!

Here's my new brooder for my Turkey poults. It's 3x4x2. Right now they are in a large Rubbermaid Tote with the top cut out and hardware clothe installed in the top. They are three weeks old and the tote is looking a little small. Besides, I'm tired of the turkey dust in my computer room and can't wait to move them to the garage. I tried moving them today, but they didn't take to the move well, so they are back in the tote at least until tomorrow.

I slapped on the cardboard in the front after I saw how they kicked shavings through the front when they moved around. I'll be replacing that with plywood.
