Heres mine my dh just built. We had our chicks last week in just some rubber maid tubs with a window screen on top. A predator killed all my babies. here is my new brooder. Dh is planning to start building them on the side since it turned out so well and now my neighbor wants one.

We started with a cardboard box and then I built this simple 4' X 4' plywood box with a sliding door for easier cleaning. Then my wife came up with the idea of using a piece of plexiglass instead of the plywood door, and presto....we have Chick TV! My kids love it!

I like your brooder wildsky! If you lived near me I would offer to pay you for it at this point because I am quickly running out of room and I am going to have to build a new building for all the new birds I have.

LOL - I'm thinking of converting it into a broody or nest box - already the little bantams are getting in where we cut a hole for the babies, and they're laying their eggs in there

It would be a nice safe place for a broody girl!

Hello! The first brooder is the one my DH built so it would be off the ground and away from our 3 cats. Little did he know his wife was going to go crazy and order 30 baby chicks which are in the brooder and 12 baby ducks which are in a wire dog cage with card board around the bottom and 7 turkeys which are in a wire guinea pig cage.
