brooder time

how long should my birds stay in the brooder before they can be taken off the lamp and put outside in their larger pen... I have bobwhites, chukars, and blue scaled quail... don't know if that makes a difference by species just though id add that in there.. I have been reducing the temp. in the brooder by 5 degrees every week as follows... 95 90 85 75 so they are at 75 by 4 weeks old/ any help would be appreciated. thanks.

When they have all or almost all of their feathers I wean them completely off the light. I turn it off during the warmest part of the day and let the birds have the rest of the day slowly adjusting to the outside temperature.


You aren't brooding all of those birds together are you? If so you need to separate them out soon before you have a murder on your hands.
